What this “holy grail” of a gas deal means for U.S. supremacy
Zero Hedge reports the West has alienated Russia… so Russia’s looking for more cooperation in the East.
If Europe and the U.S. continue to isolate Russia… they can head to China for new business, energy deals, and political alliances. Russia has been in negotiations for years with China to supply natural gas. Russia’s Gazprom is one of the largest natural gas companies in the world… and a deal should be made in the coming weeks.
The last point to hammer out is the price… and this shouldn’t be too much of a concern for Russia. There are many benefits for Russia to shift its focus to China. With the current geopolitical tension Russia is facing with the West… it’s best to hedge any loss of revenue. The massive volume of natural gas Russia will supply to China will offset the loss.
Russia is moving away from Europe and the U.S. and heading toward China. Russia and China are two of the largest regional powers in the East… and both are telling the U.S. to stay out of its business. As the two big regional powers become closer… U.S. influence could greatly decrease in the region.
